Did you Know?
|
|
After cutting fabric for your quilt, cut the
remaining fabrics into strips the size you use for bindings.
These leftover strips can then be used on your next scrap quilt
project. |

SEPTEMBER Meeting (September 17, 2008):
September Newsletter is ready! The
New
Member Handbook is now online.
Charm Squares: If anyone has any questions
please call Deb Pancherz after 5:30pm at 713-849-5478. |
The Meetings
Our meetings begin at 7:00 PM with social time from 6:30 -
7:00. Each month we have a short "business" meeting before
members share their latest accomplishments with "Show and
Tell". We then take a break for cookies and drinks before
enjoying our speaker (for a calendar of upcoming speakers
included Billie Lauder, Trish Hodges and Pat Speth. Some
months we are also able to offer a separate workshop (usually
the following Thursday or Saturday) with that month's speaker.
Meetings are at the Salt Grass Trail Building, Farm & Ranch
Club, Abercrombie Drive off of Patterson Road.

We design our programs to be attractive and educational for
all levels of quilters from beginner to experienced. Every
meeting provides new tips and/or inspiration. To further this
goal, one meeting during the year is devoted to exhibiting
different quilt making techniques instead of hosting a
speaker. |
Our History
The West Houston Quilter's Guild is a non-profit
organization founded in 1993 with the purpose of developing
and nurturing appreciation for the art of quilting and its
history. Simply put, we are a group of people who love quilts! |
Bees
We also have about 20 Bees (for a short description of each
click here ). A Bee is a smaller group
of quilters (typically 8-15 people) that meets to provide an
opportunity for members to get to know each other, learn new
skills and share quality quilting time.

takers needed! If you bring your digital camera to
guild, quilt shows, Bee events or other candid shots, please send
your photos for the website to Betty Baker!
Please remember that workshop fees help enable
the guild to bring top quiltmakers to lecture and teach.
If you've never attended before, give it a whirl!
You'll find it can be great fun - and give you lots of ideas for
new projects or ways to finish old ones.
Be sure to check the
Calendar for upcoming events and the
Calendar EVENT page for Quilt show and other events
around Texas!
To make sure you are sewing with a scant
1/4" seam allowance, do a quick test. Sew three 1 1/2" wide strips
together. The measurement across the strips should be 3
1/2".
Comfort Quilters
