After cutting fabric for your quilt, cut the
remaining fabrics into strips the size you use for bindings.
These leftover strips can then be used on your next scrap quilt
project.

Handouts/Flyers/Brochures/Cards/Displays
Our lobby area serves many purposes. It provides a
space for visitors to be greeted, members to sign in and
sign up for activities and a gathering place for us to
exchange well wishes with our fellow members. It also
accommodates donation quilts and a small area for what
should be considered as a “quilter’s resource” section.
This is where you can find business cards from some of our
advertisers or pick up a handout on an upcoming quilt
show.
In order to maintain the integrity of our lobby area
the following guidelines have been established:
a) Any quilting related business that has purchased
an ad in the newsletter is automatically approved to
display a card / flyer, etc. as long as it is the same
business as the ad. (Example: ABC Quilt Store may set
out their business card but can not put a flyer out
advertising a car wash business or their daughter’s
school fund raiser.)
b) Information flyers concerning quilt shows / quilt
exhibits will be allowed without prior approval from the
board.
c) Any other flyer / business card / brochure /
display, etc. must be submitted to the Board for
approval. Request for approval should be sent to the
president or a director with an example of the flyer /
card etc. The request will be reviewed at the next board
meeting. No approvals will be given at, during or prior
to a monthly guild meeting.
d) Displaying of raffle quilts. All requests for
displaying of raffle quilts will be reviewed and if the
organization meets the legal qualifications*, approval
will be considered. The president will maintain a
calendar of scheduled displays.
*Only organizations meeting the qualifications set out
by Charitable Raffle Enabling Act, Chapter 2002 of the Texas
Occupations Code will be considered. Please note that if a
raffle does not meet the specific requirements set forth in
the Occupations Code, it is illegal and participation, as a
buyer or seller, creates the risk of criminal liability
under the gambling provisions of Chapter 42 of the Texas
Penal Code.
