Martha became seriously involved in the art quilt movement after moving to Katy Texas in 2000. Her work has been juried in numerous national and international competitions, winning a blue ribbon at the 2008 Houston International Quilt Festival. She was also a finalist in The National Quilt Museum’s contest, New Quilts from Old Favorite-2010 Sunflower and featured in the companion book by the same name.
Martha loves to design quilts, be it an art quilt for international competition or a T-shirt quilt for a graduation gift. Her new book T-shirt Quilts Made Easy is the culmination of her efforts to offer her students fun, fast and attractive T-shirt quilt designs.
A native Texan, Jan began quilting in February 1999 by taking a beginning quiltmaking class from Miny Sirois at Great Expectations. Over the years, Jan has taken quilting classes from both very talented local teachers and nationally recognized teachers including Jan Krentz, Judy Mathieson, Helen Frost, and Judy Niemeyer. Jan's teaching career began in 2003. In 2008, she began teaching at Houston's International Quilt Festival where she focuses on color theory and beginning machine piecing. Recently (August 2012), she became a Certified Instructor for Judy Niemeyer Quilting, Inc. Jan has taught quilting throughout Texas, Arizona, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
Cynthia started quilting in 1981 and within ten years was producing award-winning quilts. She lectures and teaches throughout the United States. She was a featured teacher at the 31st Annual National Quilting Association Show in 2000 and teaches at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas.
Several of her designs have been featured in Fons and Porter magazine Love of Quilting, Quilt Works Today, and Quilting Today magazines. Her quilt “Red Hot Flannel” was featured in the 2005 Love of Quilting Calendar. In April 2007, That Patchwork Place published her first quilting book “Colorful Quilts - A Journey Through Fabric.” A separate pattern has been distributed by Martingale Press for her quilt design titled “Sweet Pea Manor.” Her quilt “Cherry Picking Time” appeared in the 2008 Calendar for That Patchwork Place. Her quilt “Black Eyed Susans” was one of 15 quilts featured in the Martingale Press book Creative Quilts Vol. III, which was published in the Spring of 2008.
