Bits 'N Pieces

April has been a very busy and productive month.  We met twice at the home of Judith Habermacher to make One Block Wonder quilt tops.  We arranged our  blocks on design cloths at the second meeting on April 25th and they were all just stunning.  Those that have participated in this project have enjoyed the process immensely.

On April 18, we also celebrated all the birthdays that occurred in the first six months of the year at the home of Louise Robbins.  The birthday girls were Susan Craig, Kathy Eidson, Georgia Johnson and Louise Robbins.  Each Birthday Girl received goodie  bags filled with sewing notions, fat quarters and other fun stuff.  A wonderful luncheon was enjoyed by everyone and was followed by an afternoon of stitching and visiting.   We look forward to another Birthday Event to celebrate those born in the second half of the year in the fall.

We are starting another project that takes us back to our "roots."  Our bee originally started out as a Crazy Quilt Bee so we are going to each make a crazy quilt block and pass it around the bee to be embellished by each member in the manner of a Round Robin.  In order to get our skills going in that direction again we will learn a new embroidery stitch at each meeting.  It will be fun to see what everyone adds to each block.

Georgia Johnson is the Beekeeper for the Bits 'N Pieces Bee that meets the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Wednesdays of the month at one of the quilt shops in Katy, Texas.

Wednesday. May 2, 2007.  The ladies are working on individual projects and doing a bit of chatting as well!
